Enjoy a tasty treat while learning about the “sweet plants” of the Conservatory. Fact and flavor stations will be staffed by educators throughout the Conservatory, featuring chocolate, chicle, vanilla, cinnamon, chewing gum, banana and more. Come taste your way through the tropical paradise. Hands-on activities, including homemade paper ukuleles, Valentine’s day cards and more.

Kilbourn Park is home to the Park District’s only organic facility. There is a large greenhouse and a variety of gardens to work in. You will help plant, create new beds, and maintain the indoor and outdoor areas. Projects are held inside of the greenhouse during inclement weather. All necessary tools will be provided.

Did you know your seafood choices can have a big impact on the health of our waters? Everyone can make a difference for the health of our oceans. Choosing the right seafood is perhaps the easiest, the most meaningful – and, of course, the most delicious – action you can take. Join Shedd Aquarium and Dirk’s Fish and Gourmet Shop to learn how to make sustainable seafood choices and a delicious pole-caught tuna sushi roll. Class is appropriate for ages 7 and up, with a suggested $5.00 donation.
