Four homes were involved in the latest fire in South Chicago on the block of 84th & Buffalo in the Bush Community area outside of the old steel mill area; on the same block as our community garden ‘The Bush Community Garden Of Hope.’
Three houses are completely damaged displacing (3) three families. No one was hurt because of the heroic efforts of neighbors who went door to door getting residents out of bed. The fire started in an abandoned building around 5am the morning of 11/15/2007. The Chicago Fire Department saved the fourth house and the whole neighborhood because the wind was carrying the flames throughout neighboring houses and trees. We want to thank all the heroes for a great job in saving lives and our neighborhood. The following individuals are in need of coats and shoes to replace what they lost:

Dolores lost her husband 2 yrs ago the day of the fire. Paul & Ray’s father house has to be knocked down and Xavier has Down syndrome in need of everything pull up’s size large. His birthday was in the beginning of the month and lost everything he got for his birthday.
The Ramos girls lost their mother a few years ago, Rosemary took the role of the mom and got her youngest sister in college. Most likely they will need other things such as home furniture, appliances, kitchen, bathroom and of course Christmas decorations.
