The Oct 30th issue of Crain’s Chicago Business reports that Excelon, the Chicago-based utility company, plans to save 10% per year on it’s electricity bill due to green choices made during construction, such as utilizing floor-to-ceiling windows that will supliment or eliminate fluorescent lighting with sunlight. They’re also relocating most workers to cubicles near the windows with executives going to interior offices. Excelon’s project aims to be certified as “green space” by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
