A Convenient Way to Make a Difference

I saw An Inconvenient Truth this weekend — and had a devilishly exciting idea afterward:

Somewhere between 1000 and 1500 copies of this film will hit video stores all over Chicago on November 21st. The website displayed at the end of the film has almost no links to Chicago.

But I want to talk with the people who will rent this flick — about anything — projects, practices, and the rest of green life in Chicago. I want them to be able to find me, us, this blog, and several options for all of us to meet up on Saturdays in January. Let’s get a LOT of people together to talk about all the little — and convenient — things we can do to make a world of difference.

So what we need to do, any and all of us, is get this blog address inserted into as many of those DVD boxes as possible, as soon after Nov 21st as we can. I’ve gotten a tentative YES at the place where I rent DVDs.

Stay tuned for a small flyer to print and attach to copies of Truth at your local video store(s) — and details on those dates for meeting up in January. You can see the flick via Faith in Place.

UPDATE: Have talked with YES!Magazine about doing same sort of piggyback invitation/connection with flyer attached at local newstands that sell their issues. May have a chance to invite Chicago-area YES! subscribers to the January events, as well, through some sort of direct emailing.
